Our Church Staff
Pastor Fred Ayers grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and attended Auburn University graduating with a Civil Engineering degree in 1982. After working as a licensed professional engineer at various locations on the east coast for 16 years, he was called into the ministry and obtained his Master of Ministry degree in 1998. In June of 1999 he accepted the pastorate at Walnut Creek Baptist Church and has been the pastor since. He married his wife Ann in 1983, and they have four children and twelve grandchildren. He enjoys snow skiing, running, and following Auburn football.
Children's Ministry Director
Ann attended Auburn University where she received her bachelor’s degree in dietetics. She and Fred were married in 1983, and came to WCBC in 1999 along with their four children, Trisha, Joe, Colleen and Sarah. She served in the early years as the pastor’s wife and office secretary and now holds the positions of Administrator and Children’s Director. She loves children ministries and desires to see our youngest attenders grow and flourish in their faith in Jesus Christ. She helps coordinate Jr. Church, AWANA, VBS, the nursery as well as various other administrative duties. She enjoys running, reading, and being with her twelve grandchildren.
Mallory grew up in Grove City, PA and graduated from Slippery Rock University with a dual degree in Elementary and Special Education. She and her husband Nathan were married in 2006. They moved to Erie for Nathan’s job in 2011. Nathan, Mallory, and their two kids have been members of WCBC since 2015. In 2018, Nathan and Mallory became co-leaders of our I.M.P.A.C.T. Youth group. In September 2020, Mallory began her job as the Administrative Assistant. Her primary roles include teen/young adult leadership and planning, special event planning, outreach, and being ready to help in any area.
Caleb grew up in Peoria, IL where his parents still serve full-time in their local church and Christian school. He studied music performance at Pensacola Christian College for two years before transferring to Crown College of the Bible in Knoxville, Tennessee. Caleb graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Biblical Studies in music ministry. After graduation, he spent four years serving at Grove City Baptist Church in Knoxville. Caleb was married to Iris in 2010 and moved to Erie, Pennsylvania in 2012 where he serves as the assistant pastor. They have four homeschooled children.
Iris was born and spent most of her childhood in Honolulu, Hawaii while her father served in the U.S. Navy. She spent her high school years in Birmingham, Alabama before moving to Knoxville, Tennessee to attend Crown College. Iris graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Biblical Studies in music education. She then spent 3 years as a music teacher and choir director at Westwood Christian School in Miami, Florida. In 2010, Iris married her husband, Caleb Lancaster. In 2012, the Lancasters moved to Erie, Pennsylvania where Caleb serves as the assistant pastor. They have 4 homeschooled children ages 4, 7, 9, and 10. Iris has been involved in church music since she was a child, and serves on staff as the pianist and music coordinator and assistant.
Josh Melto grew up in Walnut Creek for almost all his life and was involved in choir and other ministries from an early age. He started out as an intern and is completing his degree for Pastoral Ministries online. Josh works with the youth group weekly and helps lead a SEED Group of young adults. He works as a Ministry Assistant working in nearly all aspects of ministry and manages our social media platforms and live streaming. He has been on staff since January of 2020.
Hospitality & Facilities Director
Barb Junkin has been at Walnut Creek Baptist for over 45 years. She was married to her husband Dan for 43 years until his passing in 2015. After graduation from high school, Barb worked in various food service jobs, then took online classes in nutrition and food service from Auburn University. She has worked at WCBC for 21 years under Pastor Ayers. Her jobs include cleaning the church, and food preparation for any church events. Barb also loves children and serves as a helper in Jr. Church and AWANA Cubbies.
